Barefoot Kids Program
Our National Distribution Network operates in 12 States in 27 Cities with 31 Distribution partners that is comprised of established Child Charity Service Organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs and Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Salvation Army, Schools and Licensed State Agency's currently helping Children with their daily lives.

Trained professionals supervise the determination and distribution of new footwear, and follow-up with the Kids as their feet grow.

Our goals are to reach millions of Children in all areas of our country.

Our values system maintains the highest level of respect for the recipient and their family with compassion and fairness.

Kids benefit by growing up with proper footwear and avoiding the problems associated with peer pressure and uncomfortable footwear.

Our program also provides the Kids and their families an opportunity to experience shopping for footwear in stores. This instills a sense of pride of ownership in purchasing their own new footwear.

We are a 501(c)(3) Non Profit Corporation that exclusively provides new footwear  to Kids in need.

Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Salvation Army and other primary Childcare Institutions sign-up as distribution partners to provide either NEW Shoes donated or provide our $25 Payless Shopping Cards to enrolled Kids in need of new footwear.

The National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP) reports that 17% or 14 Million children live in poor families. New footwear is often not on the list after bills, food and medical care are paid. Please help those kids in need.

Distribution and collection of donations is centralized and based in Carlsbad, California. This provides the ability to monitor and track use of each of our NEW Shoe donations or the $25. Payless ShoeSource Footwear Shopping Cards.

Donors have the option to direct their donations to specific communities or leave it to us to fairly distribute the $25. Shopping Cards throughout our National Distribution Network.

Distribution Partners provide us with specific requests that are based on actual numbers of registered Children in need.
We ship the NEW Shoes or Footwear Shopping Cards after confirmation of each request. Our tracking program confirms the use of each Shopping Card and provides feedback to our Distribution Partners for their records.

Our two-way reporting system creates a flow of information to and from our Distribution Partners and is used to determine the effectiveness of our program.

Here is what or Distribution Partners are saying:

Sharon M. Lawrence is president/CEO of Voices for Children, which provides foster children with volunteer court-appointed special advocates, or CASAs. They received $1,300 in shoe donations from the foundation.

“Our CASAs often will take their case children shopping with gift cards donated by the community,” Lawrence said. “In this case, they were able to purchase many pairs of much-needed shoes for children — for sports, for back-to-school, or just to have a new pair of shoes that fit and aren’t hand-me-downs!”

Donna Greenbush is marketing manager of Casa de Amparo, which provides shelter and support for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

“At the shelter, many ‘Casa Kids’ arrive with few belongings, especially in emergency situations, and the shoes they have may be old or worn out hand-me-downs,” she said. “The gift cards help Casa de Amparo staff get new shoes for the children quickly and the kids have the fun of picking out shoes they like and that fit well. New shoes are not only a practical necessity, they are a much-needed morale booster at a tough time in a child’s life.”

Michelle Malin is vice president of operations with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego in Escondido.

“We often see children who are wearing old and worn shoes,” she explained. “Sometimes their feet are crammed into shoes that are too small. Sometimes their toes are hanging through holes. Through the generosity of the Barefoot Kids Foundation we have been able to provide gift cards for new shoes to the families who are in the most need. It is great to see the big smiles on the children when they come back to the Club and show off their new shoes.”
